~ Introduction ~
You’ve all probably heard the old quote Knowledge is power. That’s truer than you can ever imagine:
The original expression ipsa scientia potestas est, meaning "knowledge itself is power", occurs in Bacon's Meditationes Sacrae, dating back to the year 1597; while the exact phrase scientia potentia est was written for the first time in the 1668 version of the work Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes, who was secretary to Bacon as a young man.
In The Art of War, Sun Tzu, a high-ranking military general, strategist and tactician, also maintains: If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.
The Roman poet Horace, instead, in the First Book of Letters, dating back to 20 B.C, used the Latin phrase Sapere aude!, meaning “Dare to know!".
All these expressions, however, held the exact same meaning: the only true power is knowledge, as everything, including any achievement, is derived from it; knowledge is the only key to success.
~ About World of Tanks Blitz ~
Unless you have been living under a rock, you probably know, or easily figure out, that World of Tanks Blitz is the mobile version of the famous MMO game World of Tanks, revolving around players fighting in online battles while commanding tanks from the Interwar Period up until the Cold War Era.It's been such a long time since I started playing World of Tanks: I was one of the first that joined the WoT Community back when the game first came out in EU in 2011.
I was one of the first "pathfinders", the first to study and analyze the game mechanics, create strategies and uncover weak spots; I witnessed the game developing into one of the biggest and most successful military-related MMOs games.
I partecipated in competitions, I won and lost battles, and eventually, reached the top alongside some of the most famous elite clans.
When World of Tanks Blitz came out, I could not help myself: it was a blast from the past, it was like replaying WoT as it used to be during its first years of life, it was like reliving those very experiences.
What I learnt and discovered myself through the hard way, I am willing - no, more than glad to share with anyone interested in listening to me, interested in reading these articles. Knowing that what I share might be of use even to just a single person out there, it's good enough for me: I couldn't ask for anything more. Especially when considering the steep and unforgiving learning curve this game forces onto players.
